Description

Use this EV Type 2 to CEE 230 Volt 16A Socket Power Supply Converter when you need to draw power from a Type 2 charging point to operate devices that require a CEE 230 Volt 16A socket. This converter allows appliances such as motorhomes, catering trailers, LED sign vehicles and other suitable 230V equipment to use mains power from an EV charge point.

What This Is For

This converter connects devices needing a CEE 230 Volt 16A socket to a Type 2 charging point. For example, it enables motorhome owners to charge leisure batteries or power suitable equipment, and it can also be used for mobile catering trailers, LED advertising boards and other temporary power applications where a 16A CEE socket is required.

It helps maximise the practical use of compatible Type 2 charging points in home, commercial, event and mobile settings, provided the equipment being connected is correctly rated and used safely.

Compatibility & Safety Notes

Ensure the devices you connect are compatible with a CEE 230 Volt 16A socket. Always verify the power requirements of your equipment before use and make sure the connected load does not exceed the rating of the converter, socket, charging point or any extension lead used with the setup.

This product is intended for suitable 230V equipment requiring a 16A CEE connection. It should only be used with equipment that is in good condition, correctly rated and suitable for the environment in which it is being used.

If using an extension lead, make sure it is correctly rated for the load, suitable for outdoor or temporary power use where applicable, fully unwound during use, protected from damage and kept away from standing water, sharp edges, excessive heat and vehicle traffic.

Arctic Grade Cable and Tarmac Use

Our compact converter cable is designed to allow users to convert a type-2 charging point into a regular power socket. this means motorhome users, caravan owners, portable LED sign business owners and catering truck people are able to plug in when on the road.

Our short versatile adapter is easy to store and pack away. We know most users already have their own CEE extension leads and appliance cables. These can be used safely. Some claims suggest that only Titanex H07RN-F cable should be used on tarmac with an EV Type 2 to CEE adapter. We do not agree with that claim. Althouggh we do sell 16A Extension leads made with TitanEx.

Titanex H07RN-F is a high-quality heavy-duty rubber cable and can be an excellent choice for demanding outdoor use. However, cable safety is not decided by a brand name alone. A safe Type 2 to CEE adapter depends on the full design: correct current rating, conductor size, earthing, socket rating, IP protection, strain relief, cable condition and sensible use.motorcables.co.uk/…/230-volt-16-amp-extension-lead-featuring-titanex

Correctly rated EV charging cables are used every day on driveways, car parks, service areas, roads and other hardstanding surfaces. They are not limited to grass, and they do not become unsafe simply because they touch tarmac.

Properly rated Arctic grade cable like the blue CEE extension leads and other suitable outdoor flexible cables can also be appropriate for temporary outdoor power when used within their rating and kept in good condition. The real risks are damaged cables, undersized conductors, poor sockets, water ingress, overheating, trip hazards and misuse — and those risks can apply to any cable type.

A Titanex assembly may suit customers who want a longer all-in-one solution. A shorter Type 2 to CEE converter used with a suitable outdoor extension lead may suit customers who already have the correct extension cable. One option is not automatically dangerous simply because it is not Titanex. We note there are Youtube videos out there that make these silly claims.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this EV Type 2 to CEE 16A converter with any Type 2 charging point?

This converter is designed for use with standard Type 2 charging points. However, users should always check the charging point operator’s rules and ensure the equipment is suitable for the intended use.

What devices can I power with this Type 2 to CEE 230 Volt 16A converter?

You can power suitable equipment that requires a CEE 230 Volt 16A socket, such as compatible motorhome equipment, mobile catering equipment, LED sign vehicles, event equipment and other correctly rated 230V devices.

Can this Type 2 to CEE converter be used with an outdoor extension lead?

Yes, provided the extension lead is correctly rated for the load, suitable for the environment, undamaged and used responsibly. Outdoor temporary power setups should avoid water ingress, overheating, trip hazards, crushed cables and use beyond the cable’s rating.

Does an EV Type 2 to CEE adapter need special cable for use on tarmac?

No. Cable use is about correct current rating, conductor size, socket quality, IP protection, cable condition and safe use are more important than one cable brand name.

Are correctly rated outdoor cables safe to use on tarmac or hardstanding?

Yes. Correctly rated outdoor cables are routinely used on driveways, car parks, service areas and hardstanding surfaces. The key is to avoid damaged cables, poor connections, water ingress, overheating, trip hazards and use beyond the cable’s rating.

Is this Type 2 to CEE 16A power converter portable?

Yes. Its compact design makes it easy to transport and use in different locations where a suitable Type 2 charging point is available.

How do I ensure safe usage of this EV Type 2 to CEE converter?

Always check the power requirements of your equipment, ensure the connected load does not exceed the converter’s rating, use suitable cables and connectors, inspect everything before use and follow any relevant site or charge point operator rules.

Does this Type 2 to CEE 16A converter come with a warranty?

Warranty details may vary. Please check the product listing, order information or contact us for the applicable warranty details.
